After being a Honda fan years ago whilst owning a Honda myself, and being a member of NZ’s biggest Honda Club, I have always been a fan of a really well put together Honda. Although they may get quite a bit of unwanted hate, they have grown to be a popular platform to modify and with parts readily available it is easy to see why!
A year or two ago, whilst attending one of CJC’s annual track day at the (recently renamed) Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park, I finally had the opportunity to meet Matt, and of course the chance to see his Integra which has only gotten better since I first laid eyes on it.
Matt bought the 1999 Honda Integra Type R virtually stock with only a Spoon exhaust and a tune courtesy of an Apexi Neo. Matt being a Honda fan, was all about having a high revving N/A motor, and it is the motor that is the most detailed part of this Integra’s build. With a vision in mind Matt set forth and created this shining Championship white DC2R for us to feast upon..
Outside, Matt’s ITR has had a full panel and paint in the factory Championship White to start with and some carbon goodness featuring a Spoon Sports front lip, Spoon Sports mirrors and J’s Racing bumper duct.
However the magic is under the bonnet of this Type R. It is the worked Toda B Series motor that is the main attraction, punching 149kw of raw all motor power (see the break down on the motor in the spec list). During the build of the motor the engine bay has also seen some attention with a half deloom/wire tuck to get rid of any unnecessary bits aswell as a few dress up parts.
With the Integra’s power plant comes high revving and speed, equally that power needs to come to a stop which is supported by Honda NSX front calipers and Znoelli s6 rotors front and rear. Following the clean look Matt had some Volk Racing Ce28n’s in a 16×8 +35 fitment, sourced and fitted using J’s Racing wheel nuts. Bridgestone Re002 tyres the choice to get the power to the ground.
BC Gold coilover suspension keeps the Integra firmly stuck to the road or when doing track duties. Whilst a bunch of strut braces and bars assist in the overall handling.
With some more time I can only imagine this being one of NZ’s cleanest street Honda’s and I can’t wait to see Matt’s next move! Especially on the race track at the next Jerkfest!
