So, what’s the best thing to do on a quiet Saturday morning at 6am? Sleep you say? That’s not what was going through my mind a few weekends ago. Getting up at 6am to my great Nokia phone’s alarm, quickly scrambling to turn it off, whilst trying to remember why I’m waking up at such an hour. Remembering I’m going to be photographing one of the most explicit Accord CL7 EuroR’s in New Zealand – Bevan Wong’s [ R RTD ] Accord.
Rubbing my eyes attempting to wake up, I get my camera, lenses etc all together and organised, double checking I’ve remembered my memory card; Hi Pritesh! and checking my battery’s charged ready for the mission ahead. Once sorted I slip on my shoes, head out the door and up the driveway ready to be picked up to head to our location. Soon after, Bevan Wong picks me up off the side of the road and we get a move on to Auckland’s CBD. Having never been in Bevan’s car but spending a large amount of time around it, I studied the beautifully styled interior under the morning light, noticing all the personal details that have been added. Watching Bevan shift through gears with his colourful Blox gear knob, listening to the K20a Motor purr under acceleration; I felt pretty comfortable sitting in the factory Recaro seats.
Check out the magnificently coloured tip of the mufflers of the J’s Racing exhaust!
Finally arriving at McDonald’s Quay Street to meet with fellow CJC blogger Pritesh Dhanji to decide on locations over some breakfast, we head to the Auckland Public Library and from there, well I’ll let the photos talk..
An aggressive front end is the first thing you come across when looking at this car. The kit consists of a full facelift Mugen body kit, mixed with a J’s Racing Carbon bonnet to truly bring out the shape of this beast.
Big 19″ Work XSA 02C wheels cover the upgraded brakes, now featuring Brembo Calipers and S2000 rotors. Oh, and check out those nuts!
The rear end of the car is highlighted with a intimidating custom fitted DC5 Integra Carbon Mugen GT Wing..
The elegant interior sports a lot of Bevan’s personal touches, like a genuine Takata harness for the driver; with Bevan’s own custom harness bar which he fabricated – adding to the ‘straight from street to track’ theme.
Under the J’s Racing Carbon bonnet hides Honda’s famed K20A motor, which has had its share of aftermarket goodies added as well; from Honda’s Mugen catalogue through to some J’s Racing goodness.
Bevan’s [ R RTD ] Accord is definitely a car you can’t keep your eyes off! And I know that with more time under his ownership, it can only get better. With more aggressive fitment and wheel sizing come, I know I certainly can’t wait!
